About Studio Adam
Studio Adam provides natural, documentary-style photography for schools and educational settings. Based in North London and working across the city and surrounding areas, I photograph school life as it happens, focusing on the people, relationships and everyday moments that give each school its own character.
Before starting Studio Adam, I worked as a teacher, so I understand how schools work and how important it is that photography fits around the school day, rather than disrupting it. I work quietly and unobtrusively, allowing lessons and routines to carry on as normal while I photograph what is happening around me.
I also keep things deliberately simple. There is no large crew or complicated setup. Every commission is photographed by me with minimal equipment, which means I can move easily between classrooms, corridors, playgrounds and other spaces without turning the school day into a photoshoot.
As an award-winning documentary photographer, I'm interested in more than simply getting a few good pictures of each activity. I look for the interactions, expressions and small details that help show what a school actually feels like to be part of. This creates a varied set of images that can tell the school's story across its website, prospectus, social media and other communications.
Some schools already have a clear idea of what they would like photographed, while others prefer a little help deciding what to cover. I'm happy to work from an existing brief or help plan the day, suggesting the areas, activities and moments that will give you a varied and useful set of images.
As well as this, I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the DBS Update Service.
If this sounds like the right approach for your school, I'd be happy to hear from you.
